Today we started our Passion Hour by doing a drawing activity. I passed out a small sheet of paper that looked like this to each student. I gave them 10 seconds to create something with it. As you can imagine, we did not create much in 10 seconds. So then I gave the students another sheet of paper with the same image. But this time, I gave them 10 minutes to create something with it. And sure enough, students used their creativity to come up with some unique and interesting images! This activity was inspired by this video and the students enjoyed watching it after they finished their creations. We reflected on the activity and students said that they were able to create better, more interesting designs because they had the time to think creatively. Many of them thought "outside the box" and we concluded that when we put our minds to something, give ourselves time to think and create, that we can make some pretty cool, unique things! This was a good springboard into our Cardboard Challenge projects. I so enjoyed watching the students work enthusiastically with one another, and we can't wait for Passion Hour next Wednesday! The video below shows you our 10 second drawings and our 10 minute drawings. Enjoy!
